Wine Tasting in Temecula

This July my parents came to visit me in LA to help me move into a new apartment. After we finished our hard work, we decided to do a mini trip to Temecula, CA for some wine tasting. The last time we were in Temecula was for my college graduation two years ago, so it was definitely time to re-up and get some wine tasting in.

We set off on our trip in the early afternoon. Temecula is only about an hour and a half from LA, making it the perfect quick trip for anyone in the LA area. We arrived around 3pm at Ponte, a hotel and winery. We had visited the winery in the past, but never stayed at the hotel and we were absolutely blown away.

the hotel

The hotel itself is gorgeous. It’s elegant and makes you feel like you’re truly in paradise. Not to mention after checking in you’re immediatelyhanded a glass of sparkling wine! I’m normally not a big hotel room person. I tend not to care as much about the room because I rather be out doing things, but I could hardly bare to leave this one! The beds were absolute heaven and the view from our room was majestic. Through two big glass doors was a giant private patio that had a head on look at the vineyards. It felt like absolute magic sitting on that deck and drinking our complimentary sparkling wine which was handed to us as we checked in.

And BONUS ALERT! When you book your room at Ponte you get a complimentary tasting at the Ponte Winery for everyone 21+ in your room! Major score considering the rooms are incredible affordable and the tastings at $20 a person normally.

my outfit

This is one of my favorite outfits right now. It was absolutely perfect for lunch and then some tastings. It kept me cool in the intense Temecula heat while still looking super cute! My favorite thing is most definitely the skirt. It goes so perfectly with the crop top. You really can’t go wrong with something like this. Sadly, a lot of these specific pieces aren’t available anymore, but I’ve linked similar ones below!

Also - pro tip - don't bother with too much (if any) makeup while you're there. I didn't, and I was so much happier. The temperatures in Temecula will keep you sweating all day long and your makeup won't last anyway. So enjoy your time there and dress up your outfit rather than your makeup.

ponte tasting room

Ponte’s tasting room is the most beautiful one I’ve ever seen in Temecula! Walking up to the tasting room you’re taken away by how beautiful the barn atmosphere is. And inside that follows suit. As you enter you’re transported to what feels like a beautiful, airy oasis. the entire inside of the barn has been painted white which makes the room feel huge. There are two different tasting bars to the right and the left and the rest of the room is a gift shop. However, it’s not your typical gift shop. They have gorgeous gifts perfect for any wine lover like adorable wine holders and some super cute decor!

The Wines

There are a ton of wines you can taste at Ponte. I’m more of a white wine girl myself, but there something in there for everyone. I definitely had two stand out favorite wines. The first was a Pino Grigio which was unlike any Pino I have ever tried! The best way I can describe it is a margarita wine! Can you think of anything more delicious? Basically it has a really wonderful lime taste and ends with a sea salt flavor which will blow your mind. The other one I loved was the Vermentino. It was sweet which is my favorite, but still had the perfect bit of tart in there for wine lovers. I ended up buying the Vermentino to bring home!

the food

We ate A LOT of good food while we were in Temecula. I mean food and wine are two of my absolute favorite things. I picked out my favorite meal I had for breakfast, lunch, and dinner while I was there and I’m so excited to share this yummy food with you!

BREAKFAST

We got breakfast at one of Ponte’s outdoor dining rooms. While it’s definitely a little warm outside, it’s definitely a bearable heat in the morning. Plus you cant beat the gorgeous view of the vineyards. I went for the poached egg breakfast which was delicious! It comes with two open faced sandwiches, complete with poached egg, hollandaise sauce, and some yummy greens. The meal also comes with my favorite thing EVER aka breakfast potatoes! You are what you eat after all!

LUNCH

We also stuck to Ponte for lunch, but this time we were in their tasting room restaurant. Also outdoors, but this area has misters on which helps a ton with the hot weather. This was probably my favorite meal from the trip. They give you this delicious pull-apart bread to start off your meal which is so soft and super flavorful. It also comes with a creamy lime sauce which tastes amazing with it. Then for our main meals my mom got a bread and cheese plate. WOAH GUYS, it was good!! And I opted for some really amazing ravioli. It also comes with tomatoes on top, FYI, but I’m not much of a tomatoes girl so I got mine without. The dish was super simple, but still incredibly delicious. I could eat that ravioli on the daily!

DINNER

For dinner we went over to West Coast Winery which is walking distance from Ponte. It’s literally right next door! This was yet another really amazing and delicious meal. For an appetizer I shared some calamari with my dad. It was some of the most amazing calamari I had ever tasted. It was so tender and basically melted in your mouth. Plus it came with three kinds of dipping sauces to try with it. My favorite was probably the aioli, but they were each really great in their own right. For dinner I went for the deconstructed lasagna. Basically it’s a lasagna, but not in lasagna form. It was so yummy and such a unique meal I don’t think I could find anywhere else.

And that was our Temecula adventure in a nut shell! It was such a fantastic trip and I can’t wait to go back soon. In fact, Ponte Inn is putting in a pool with a swim up bar thats opening this summer! Major bonus! I definitely can’t wait to go back to experience that. Also, I’ve linked my vlogs from the trip below so you can watch our mini vacation while you’re at it!
