Back in August I took a girls trip to San Fransisco and discovered the trendiest and coolest spots there!
MINI VACATION TO SAN FRANCISCO
Jill here today to talk about a little mini trip I took to San Francisco a few months ago! My best friend, Tara, and I set off on a girls trip with two goals: have a lot of fun and take a lot of photos. Both were massive successes. We spent four days straight exploring the city and trying to find the trendiest places to take photos and eat food.
Since our first day was a travel day we didn’t have all day to explore San Francisco. So when we arrived we ubered over to our hotel, checked in, and headed up to our room. Once we got inside, we realized we had one of the most insane views ever of the skyline. We could see the Transamerica Pyramid, the Golden Gate Bridge, AND Alcatraz all from our window. This immediately got us incredibly excited to explore the city and see what we could find! So we set off to take a look around the surrounding areas.
Luckily, walking distance from our hotel was Union Square, a cute shopping and tourist area with lots to see. We spent pretty much the whole time taking photos in different places and finally stopped for some food at Burger Bar. After we finished eating we headed back to the hotel where we saw the most INSANE sunset. This turned out to be a reoccurring thing for us because almost every night had a gorgeous sunset that we could see from our hotel window. We ended day one by heading to a rooftop bar called The View, which, as I’m sure you can imagine from the name, had an amazing view of the city! After a drink and an hour of enjoying the amazing view, we headed back to the hotel to end our night.
My Outfit Details;
Day two started off with a delicious brunch at a place called Reveille Coffee Co. The interior was so chic and perfect to grab a picture of your food at. I went for a latte and some fish tacos which were so fresh and delicious since we were so close to the bay. After we finished lunch we went out to Fort Point, a super popular look out point for the Golden Gate Bridge. We had the most amazing view of he bridge EVER and also got to explore the Fort which was really cool. We learned all about the history of the Fort and there were some gift shops and cafes to check out over there too!
Next we headed back over towards the hotel and stopped near a few shops! We made a stop at Urban Outfitters and Forever 21 before heading back to our room. Of course we experienced another gorgeous sunset and even got a few pics from our room window. After a quick rest we headed out for dinner on Pier 39 a the Fishermans Wharf. This turned out to be one of our favorite places to explore in the area! We stopped into Wipeout Bar and Grill where we ordered drinks that turned out to be BIGGER THAN OUR HEADS! We also got the Chicken Chipotle pasta and some sweet potato fries. This ended day two absolutely perfectly!
Day Two Details;
Another day, another trendy lunch spot! Today we headed off to Farm Table. We had seen photos online and we knew we had to hit it! The food was delicious! We both got lattes and Egg on Croissant sandwiches. I have to say, the service here was not the best or the friendliest, but they do make an awesome breakfast sandwich!
After we had finished up lunch it was time for the next spontaneous thing I was doing on this trip…. GETTING A NEW TATTOO! I decided that I was ready to brand my body as a Harry Potter fan and what better place to do it than in San Francisco. There’s something really cool about getting a tattoo in a city you’re visiting that way theres a memory attached to it! So after a bit of research we headed over to Let It Bleed Tattoo Parlor! It had been quite awhile since I had gotten a tattoo (two years!) and so I was a bit nervous. But Courtney did my tattoo and she was incredibly friendly and helpful! I definitely recommend going to her if you’re in the area!
After I got my tattoo…
we had to take advantage of the rest of our day and hit as many spots as we could. First up was the painted ladies, famous houses in San Francisco each painted in different colors. Then we hopped an uber to the 16th Avenue Tiled Steps. These were incredible to look at! The mosaic going up the stairs creates the most beautiful patterns! We were seriously obsessed. After taking some pictures and spending some time there we decided to go back to Pier 39 since we didn’t get to spend a ton of time there they night before. As I mentioned, this turned out to be one of the coolest places we visited!
We came across something called a Mirror Maze which was SO COOL! Finding your way through this maze is actually super hard, but super fun! Plus we got literally the coolest photos we took on the whole trip while we were there. Inside of the maze the lights are constantly changing which makes each picture look different from the last, even if you’re taking them in the exact same spot. Also, try to count how many of yourself you can spot! It’s such a fun and funny challenge to see how many places you can see yourself. Seriously, you’ll see like 25 of yourself at one time because of all the mirrors.
While we were at the pier we decided to hit Mango’s Taqueria & Cantina for some early dinner. You guys have got to check this place out if you’re into Guacamole because they had mango guac that will blow your mind!
We ended the night back at the hotel with the most insane sunset I’ve ever seen! It was so breath taking we had to go to a bunch of different places around the hotel to get a ton of photos of it.
Day Three Details;
Day four was our last day in San Francisco, so we had to take full advantage before our flight later that evening. We decided we had to hit Philz Coffee while we were in SF because even though its made its way to LA now, it originated up north! So we stopped in there and then went over to a lunch place called Mixt which was just a quick salad and sandwich place. Honestly, this food turned out to be some of the best on our trip though!
Afterwards, we headed to another look out with an incredible view of San Francisco called Billy Goat Hill! If you want to go to any look out while there, I would definitely say this would be my go to! You can see the entire city, it wasn’t crowded, and we even got to play with a cute dog! After we were done there we went back into town to Lombard Street. This was the exact opposite of Billy Goat Hill since it was incredibly crowded and touristy, but was still very cool to see!
And our last stop before we had to catch our flight was Ghirardelli Square. Our main goal here was just to collect the free samples because that’s obviously the best part of going to a Ghirardelli store! However, it actually turned out to be pretty cool inside! You could watch their whole chocolate making process and literally see the chocolate being made. Let me tell you, there are a lot more types of chocolate than I realized!
Day Four Details;
With that, our trip was over! We caught a plane back to LAX and our girls trip had officially come to an end. San Francisco turned out to be one of my favorite places I have ever visited! It feels like a mini New York City, but with a cool, west coast twist. I will most definitely be returning again as soon as possible!
Check out my vlogs from the trip to actually watch us experience San Francisco!
