What do you get when you put together friends, wine tasting, and an actual giraffe?! Malibu Wine Safari!
Malibu Wine Safari Tour
Jill turned 23 this past March and she knew exactly what she wanted to do… a Malibu wine tour! There are a ton of Malibu wineries, but after a bit of research we came across Malibu Wine Safari. We had seen a bunch of friends of ours go and so we decided that would be the perfect place. We had wanted to visit for a super long time and when the opportunity finally arose we were beyond excited. The drive there was absolutely spectacular. It didn’t even feel like we were in LA anymore! Since we got so much rain this year the mountains were green and lush. We had perfectly blue skies and we couldn’t have been more excited.
Stanley the Giraffe
After we checked in we headed into our open air bus and took off on our tour! Our first stop was the one we were most excited for by far, Stanley the Giraffe! It has long been a dream of Jill’s to be able to interact with a giraffe, so having that opportunity was so exhilarating. Stanley was friendly and HUNGRY, so we each got to go up to him and feed him lettuce. Feeding a giraffe is like nothing else. Their tongues are SO long and if you put a piece of lettuce in your mouth he’ll just snatch it right out of there too!
There are two different areas where you can meet Stanley. We went up on the upper deck where you’re at his level. There’s also an option to stand down on the ground and have him lean down to say hello to you. In my opinion, being on the ground is probably cuter for the instagrams. But, getting to go up on the deck means getting to interact with Stanley more! It’s much easier to pet him and hang with him when you’re on his level.
Wine Tasting in Malibu!
We had a nice long visit with Stanley and then the wine tasted began! They brought us to a spot with a gorgeous view and we enjoyed sipping on a few different types of wine. We even got to taste a delicious moscato named after Stanley! It was probably our favorite wine of the day.
Barack & Michelle O’llama
Once we had spent a bit of time relaxing and enjoying ourselves we headed out to our next destination, more animals! We met llamas and alpacas and even a super sweet donkey. They feasted on lots of carrots straight out of our hands and were seriously adorable. Added bonus that they had two llamas that were named Barack and Michelle O’llama! You gotta appreciate a good pun like that.
We only had one more stop after this for some more tasting and even some snacks! The area that we stopped in this time had some seriously awesome instagram spots. Our favorite spot to take photos was in front of a VW bus they had in that area that’s the actual bus from Little Miss Sunshine. So cool! Aside from that they had a ton of trailers that you can peek inside and never ending, rolling green hills. If you’re a nature freak, you’re seriously going to love this tour.
FYI- they’re also starting a new tour where you get to hike through the mountains and taste wine. It’s probably going to be super cool!
