~ “We All Scream For Ice Cream!” ~
Hello hello, it’s Brendan here to talk about the highly-desired, one and only, MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM! About a couple months ago I was able to enjoy a day in the land of sweetness and I’m FINALLY getting around to putting this post together. Jill and I have been so busy lately so we haven’t been posting as often as we’d like, but we haven’t forgotten about you guys!
Unfortunately, Jill was back in New Jersey visitng her family when I went, so she wasn’t able to join me. BUT, that didn’t stop me from finally seeing what all the hype was about. For a museum, there was virtually no facts about ice cream which was kind of a bummer…however, it was so much more fun than I could have ever imagined!
Let’s Dive Right In!
This place was like walking into one of my childhood dreams, the definition of pure imagination…Cue Willy Wonka…Vibrant colors, fun artwork, and interactive installments all create a magical experience!
Admission is about $30 and getting tickets is quite difficult, I had to wait over 2 months!! But it was sooooo worth it.
Here were some of my favorite parts of the Museum!
The very first room to walk through is the all-pink room lined with vintage wall phones…you know, like the ones from every 80’s teen comedy. How did our parents survive these things???
Best be sure they make for some cool photos though! I started to see the appeal the more I played around with them…Apparently there’s some sort of message that plays when you pick up the phone but I couldn’t seem to get mine to work…Darn telephones…I’ll stick with my smartphone! Haha.
A Walk Down Strawberry Lane
The next room is really cool, it gives Hollywood a complete makeover! LA is transformed into all things ice cream.
You can stand in front of the “Venice Cream” wall or at the corner of Strawberry Lane and Vine Street (my favorite part). They even have a walk of fame with a bunch of celebrity stars with ice cream inspired names like Vanessa Fudgens.
We also got to try our very first sample of ice cream, a vanilla/churro flavored gelato. I ate it so quick that I forgot to take a picture!!
This Sh** Is BANANAS
Next, the Hollywood room leads you into a jungle of BANANAS…Gwen Stefani would be so proud.
I’m talkin’ bananas everywhere you look! I definitely felt the urge to eat one of them…The best part is swinging around like a monkey on the swingset!! This proved to be too dangerous for someone like me who gets way too excited for swings. I may or may not have crashed into the wall behind me…haha.
The popsicle room was probably my favorite room thus far!
Giant popsicle sculptures erupt from the walls, “melting” all over the place. These things were MASSIVE…the sheer size of them made me feel sooooo tiny…with all the different colors and angles, you can definitely get creative with the pics!!
The Sprinkle Pool
I think everyone in the entire world has heard of the SPRINKLE POOL!
Whoever came up with this idea was a genius…What better way to bring out your inner child than a pool filled with sprinkles. I think the adults had more fun with it than the kids did!! What I love is that there is no age limit here, just pure fun.
Just be ready to find sprinkles in random places weeks after coming here. I still find them in the pocket of my shorts that I wore and that was over 2 months ago haha!! And no, they’re not actual sprinkles, only plastic!
Last But Not Least…
At the end of the museum you’re led into a fun lounge/hangout area with all sorts of activities like a pingpong table, an ice cream sandwich swing, and the gift shop. Most importantly though, another chance to try some ice cream!
Overall the Museum was a ton of fun…It really is worth the $$ and wait! There were several other rooms that I didn’t mention, so it’ll be even more of a suprise when you get the chance to go. You can check out their website here for upcoming dates: Museum of Ice Cream. GOOD LUCK!
Thanks for reading guys! Let us know which room was YOUR fav in the comments below 🙂 ‘Til next time!
