EdiBOL, located in the heart of the Arts District, is one of the best and most instagrammable lunch spots in the area!
WHAT IS A BUDDHA BOWL?
Jill here today to talk about one of my absolute favorite places to grab lunch! I discovered EdiBOL when the existence of buddha bowls came to my attention. In case you’re new to them- the best definition I’ve been able to find of what a buddha bowl is comes from Urban Dictionary. They define it as “A bowl which is packed so full that it has a rounded ‘belly’ appearance on the top, much like the belly of a buddha.” In short its a healthy bowl that’s filled with your favorite grains, proteins, veggies, and dressings. YUM, am I right?!
After a quick internet search I came across EdiBOL which, at least on yelp, looked adorable and delicious. Lets just say, it does not disappoint. Their menu starts out totally vegetarian and then you can add proteins to the bowl for an additional cost. On top of that, their menu features small bites, housemade spritzers, beers, cocktails, and coffees. AKA basically everything you could ever wish for!
My Favorite Order
My go to order has got to be their Miso Peanut Ramen which is one of their cold bowls. This guy is stuffed with edamame, red pepper, pickled carrots, shiitake, scallions, roasted peanuts, honey miso dressing, and served over greens. When I’m in the mood for an additional protein I go for the garlic shrimp, which is delicious! Since it’s served chilled it’s refreshing on warm days and super filling. If you love peanut sauces as much as I do then you’ll definitely be into this bowl!
My other favorite here has got to be their pretzel grilled cheese wedges. It comes with four wedges, making them perfect to share with a friend! This thing is incredible. It’s a grilled cheese made with sharp cheddar and muenster cheese on a pretzel roll. You’ll also find citrus slaw, caramelized onion, and stone ground mustard inside. This is such a unique dish that you’re not going to find anywhere else, so you have to give it a try while you’re there!
As for drinks, I go one of two ways, depending on the mood I’m in! If I’m feeling in need of a little extra boost I go for the cafe latte. Not only does it look great in photos (because lets be honest, that’s super important…), but it’s also really delicious coffee! On the other hand, if I’m feeling like I need something a bit more refreshing I go ahead and get the strawberry rhubarb spritzer. As I mentioned before, they’re all housemade and this one is seriously amazing. It’s perfectly fruity and and perfectly sweet!
On top of all of that you have the added bonus that it’s in the perfect area to pick up lots of instagram photos and spend some time walking around! It’s in a complex that also has adorable shopping, a nail salon, ice cream, and more. You’ll also find a few adorable walls that are perfect to snap some pictures in front of!The point is, you have got to check this place out! And if you don’t live in LA, find a local spot that makes buddha bowls. You seriously have no idea how much you need these in your life. I promise, you’ll leave with a very happy buddha belly of your own when you’re done!
